On Memorial Day weekend, over 400,000 people came to Washington, D.C. to honor and remember America's fallen heroes. Wreathes and personal momentos were placed at the Viet Nam Wall and the Viet Nam and Korean War Memorials. At Arlington National Cemetery, President Obama placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and American flags were placed at every headstone.

Working as a member of the White House press pool, Scott L. Gibson uniquely captures the people and events of Memorial Day, 2011.
